Baby Teething:

Teething can be defined as the term used for the very first growth of teeth during babyhood. This is a very important phase since the baby's gums and little teeth become extremely sensitive during this time. The baby begins to put everything in hand into the mouth in order to chew it. The parents have to keep a watchful eye on each of baby's activity, as it is capable of putting harmful things into the mouth. Yet, some people do manage to become slightly inattentive and it causes some very drastic accidents. The following article includes all the necessary information about teething and the precautions that need to be taken by the parents.

Teething age:

A normal baby begins to get her/his first set of teeth at the age of 6 to 9 months. Once the first teeth erupt the rest begin to grow rapidly. By the time the child reaches the age of 3, he has developed 20 teeth. These teeth are not permanent. Teething does not cause bleeding as believed. But it sometimes does cause very minor bleeding, if the action of tooth spurting is sudden. However this bleeding is so minor that it can be ignored. Teething can be uncomfortable, particularly when a number of teeth are erupting at the same time. if the child cries excessively only then you should take an action, otherwise it is alright to ignore. Also if excessive bleeding occurs note should be made to the doctor.

Measures:

There are some homemade measures that can be taken to making the teething process easier for the baby. These measures may not always be fruitful but they can be tried, as they are harmless. Ice cubes should be wrapped in a handkerchief and rubbed on the gums. This action has a soothing effect on the gums and the pain may decrease to a certain extent. Secondly, the baby should not be given too many hard or chewy things at the beginning phase of teething as it can cause pain. The baby should instead be given fluids.

If the pain becomes very drastic, you can even rub a gel recommended by the physician on the gums. This gel should not be very strong as the baby usually swallows most of it, therefore gel should be applied only when suggested.
