REM sleep:

Rapid eye movement during sleep:

Rapid eye movement is basically a mentally active period during which dreaming occurs, provided a biological explanation for this phenomenon. On this basis itself it is seen that there is a development in treatments for major sleep disorders such as insomnia and sleep apnea. REM sleep is defined as is an active period of sleep marked in humans by intense activity in the brain and rapid bursts of eye movements. As the stages of sleep advance and change it is seen that that blood pressure, heart rate, and other body functions in humans rise and fall in a pattern during sleep. Scientists have observed that these movements these movements were recorded by placing electrodes behind the eyes. There is a change in the muscle activity as rapidly changing brain waves that alternated with periods of deep, quiet, sleep marked by large, slow brain waves.

How does it occur?

As sleep is a complex activity, fundamentally different from waking, but just as active and hence it provides a biological marker for dreaming so that immediate dream reports could be collected. All these factors provoked the psychologists and scientists to examine the physiology of sleep. At the time of experiment some people were woken up deliberately during REM sleep and asked them about their dreams, they found that almost all who awakened during REM sleep could remember their dreams. Another striking factor was noted that people who claim they do not dream really do not remember their dreams the next morning.

Disorders related to this:

The REM disorder is characterized by the acting out of dreams that are vivid, intense, and violent. This disorder is a kind of paralysis that normally occurs during REM sleep is incomplete or absent, allowing the person to act out his or her dreams. There is an unusual Dream-enacting behaviors include talking, yelling, punching, kicking, sitting, jumping from bed, arm flailing, and grabbing. This is seen prominently when there is an acute form may occur during withdrawal from alcohol or sedative-hypnotic drugs. It has been a history that this disorder is usually seen in middle-aged to elderly people (more often in men).

Baby Sleep: is your baby sleeping sound?

Lack of Sleep:
A threat to general health: As sound sleep is necessary for us it is seen that all the people who have lack of sound sleep can have a lot of health problems. In the latest research it is seen that lack of sleep can reduce the capacity of even...

Snoring and Sleep Apnea:
Obstructive sleep apnea: Snoring is a problem that is caused by the problem of improper breathing and this disorder is caused by is cause by the closing of the upper airway while asleep. The term Apnea means no breathing so sleep apnea means...
