Other heart diseases such as atrial fibrillation or ventricular tachycardia may cause irregular heartbeats due to salt imbalances and also heart attack. Some heart defects known as congenital heart failure that cannot pump oxygenated blood effectively also affect the heart rate.

Sometimes rapid heart rate can be a serious cause due to some diseases or infections and need medical treatment to normalize the heart rate. This can sometimes be fatal caused due to heart attacks.
