Botox treatment:
What is botox?
Botox is a substance derived from botulinum toxin while botox injection is a natural purified protein, which in very low doses relaxes the overactive muscles that cause frown lines to form and botox treatment is simple, non-surgical as well as smoothes the deep, persistent lines between your brows that have developed over time.
How does botox work and how long does it last?
Botox blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles and the injected muscle can no longer contract, which causes the wrinkles to relax as well as soften. It is mostly used on forehead lines, crow's feet and frown lines. Wrinkles caused by sun damage and gravity will not respond to Botox that the point why botox treatment is popular.
The procedure of botox treatment takes only a few minutes and no anesthesia is required. Botox is injected with a fine needle into specific muscles with only minor discomfort and it generally takes three to seven days to take full effect and it is best to avoid alcohol, wine and beer at least one week prior to treatment. Aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications should be stopped two weeks before treatment in order to reduce bruising.
This treatment will last for four to six months since the muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to re-appear and wrinkles need to be re-treated so injection has to be given again.
What are the side effects of botox treatment?
Though botox treatment is very good but it may cause some side effects like headache, facial pain, nausea, twitching of the eye, muscle weakness, flu-like symptoms or even redness at injection site. So mostly doctors recommend that pregnant woman and breast-feeding woman should avoid botox. Those people who have allergic with the ingredients of botox should avoid botox.
What should be done after the injection?
You may not get the result within the same time but you should notice an improvement in your frown lines within 3 to 7 days, the effects of which can last up to 4 months. However, results may vary and after a period of time, your frown lines will begin to reappear as the effects of botox wear off. You can receive botox injections every 4 months or six months and with repeated treatments, thinning of the muscles occurs, which produces longer lasting results.
