6 Steps To A Greener, Healthier Lawn

6 Steps To A Greener, Healthier Lawn

It is important to understand that a lawn that is easy to care for and gives you the health and beauty you desire is dependant on several steps including those that occur before you make your first application of fertilizer.

St. Augustine grass, the type of grass in most Florida homes, comes in many subtypes called varieties and have different characteristics that make them more or less suited for various conditions like shade tolerance and others. The term lawn or turfgrass as found below will be used interchangeably to refer to St. Augustinegrass.

1. Turfgrass Establishment:

Successful turfgrass establishment is important because without it lawns perform poorly and become infested with weeds that later can be difficult or impossible to selectively control. Proper soil preparation followed by the selection of quality sod that is of the appropriate variety (cultivar) for your general shade conditions, combined with properly installed irrigation all contribute to...

Introduction To Bluetooth

Introduction To Bluetooth

Bluetooth was designed to allow low bandwidth wireless
connections to become easy to use so even those who
are new to wireless can use them. Version 1.1 of
Bluetooth describes a low power, short range wireless
networking technology that uses radio waves to send
data at rates up to 720 kilobits a second.

The specification for Bluetooth provides for different
classes of radio that allow transmission ranges of
up to 100 meters by boosting the radio power. The
technology of Bluetooth isn't limited to line of
sight transmission since it uses directional waves
that are capable of transmitting through many

Bluetooth is an industry standard communication of
wireless, meaning that it enables the connection
of other devices as well, such as cell phones,
computers, digital cameras, and other types of
electronic devices. The specification of Bluetooth
defines a radio system and a...

How Bluetooth Works

How Bluetooth Works

Bluetooth devices will normally operate at 2.4 GHZ
in the license free, globally available ISM radio
band. The advantage to this band includes worldwide
availability and compatibility. A disadvantage to
this however, is that the devices must share this
band with other RF emitters. This includes
automobile security systems, other wireless devices,
and other noise sources, such as microwaves.

To overcome this challenge, Bluetooth employs a
fast frequency hopping scheme and therefore uses
shorter packets than other standards within the
ISM band. This scheme helps to make Bluetooth
communication more robust and more secure.

Frequency hopping

Frequency hopping is basically jumping from frequency
to frequency within the ISM radio band. After a
bluetooth device sends or receives a packet, it
and the device (or devices) it's communicating with
hop to another frequency before the next packet is
sent. This scheme offers three advantages:

1. Allows Bluetooth devices to use the...

Bed Bugs Threaten Hotel / Motel Industry

Bed Bugs Threaten Hotel / Motel Industry

Bed bugs are very tiny, redish brown colored bugs that dwell and gather in places like upholstered furniture, mattresses, baseboards, walls, and other interior areas. After the great World War II, bed bugs were hardly seen in our society, however once the effective yet extremely dangerous pesticide DDT was banned, bed bugs started to rear their ugly heads again.

Another contributing factor to bed bugs today is that of international travel. Bed bugs can easily stow away in suitcases, and take up residence in the room where the suitcase is unpacked. Because many travelers stay in hotels and motels, bed bugs threaten the hotel / motel industry. Bed bugs are prevalent in areas of Africa, Asia and South America, and can easily be unknowingly transported from those areas to other places around the world.

Bed bugs feed on the blood of living hosts, and most often live close to the place where they feed. Because they're most active at night and prefer feeding on sleeping people and pets, mattresses are ideal homes for these pests. Bed bug infestation appears as dark spotting on furniture or mattresses, which is dried waste from the bugs. Because bed bugs can...

Information Regarding Bed Bug Infestation Treatment

Information Regarding Bed Bug Infestation Treatment

Before World War II, bed bugs were common place in our society. But following the events of World War II, improved sanitation and the widespread use of a pesticide named DDT, we were able to wipe out bed bugs. Lately, however , bed bugs have experienced a resurgence in today's homes, apartments, hotels and even public transportation. This is mainly due to the increased level of immigration and travel from areas where bed bugs are rampant, like parts of Africa, Asia and South America. Bed bugs are very small and they can easily stow away in luggage and take up residence wherever said luggage is placed.

Bed bugs often live in mattresses, hence the name. This is because they prefer to feed on sleeping humans or animals, and normally live quite close to their feeding ground. Bed bugs feed using a sharp pointed beak that painlessly pierces the skin. The bites may result in welts and bumps that are red, inflamed and itchy. However, some people exhibit no evidence of bed bug bites.

Bed bug infestation treatment is done in a variety of...
